Overview
Spend a week exploring the majestic mountain landscapes surrounding Lake Achensee, Austria’s “Fjord of the Alps.” Based in the peaceful village of Achenkirch, this centre-based trip offers daily guided walks into the Karwendel Alps, Rofan Mountains, and scenic valleys — all from the comfort of one base. The area is well connected by ferries, cable cars, and the charming Achenseebahn steam cog railway, allowing us to vary the routes and access high trails with ease.
Base: Achenkirch
Achenkirch lies at the northern tip of Lake Achensee, nestled beneath the Hochunnütz and Seekarspitze ranges. From here, we can access quiet alpine paths, lakeside trails, and panoramic ridges — all returning each evening to the same comfortable accommodation.
